Shyam Group setting up steel plant in Bengal

Kolkata: Kolkata-based Shyam Group of Industries will complete the first phase of integrated steel and power plant in Bengal by the end of 2009, at an investment of Rs 2,000 cr.

The company has already acquired 400 acre of private land for the first phase of the project. The total land requirement for the project is 1,500 acre. The group will produce 0.25 mn tonne of steel and 250 Mw of power in the first phase.

The total capacity of the project is 1.1 mn tonne of finished steel and 1,000 Mw captive power at the cost of Rs 9,900 cr.
