Stellantis Taps Tata Motors to Manufacture Global Jeep Models in India.

Stellantis has unveiled one of its biggest India strategy overhauls in years, announcing plans to develop and manufacture a new global Jeep vehicle in partnership with Tata Motors, positioning India as a low-cost engineering and export hub for more than 50 international markets.

The upcoming Jeep model will be built on a platform developed by Tata Motors and manufactured at the companies’ joint venture facility in Ranjangaon, Maharashtra. The move is aimed at reducing development costs, localising production and protecting margins amid intensifying global competition and rising manufacturing costs in Western markets.

Speaking during the company’s global “FaSTLAne 2030” Investor Day presentation, Grégoire Olivier, Chief Operating Officer for China and the Asia-Pacific region at Stellantis, said the partnership marks a major step in leveraging India’s cost competitiveness and engineering capabilities for global production.

“Tata Motors has been a Stellantis partner for more than 20 years, and will provide a highly competitive platform to develop a new Jeep car, that will be developed in India, assembled in India in our Stellantis-Tata JV, in India, for the world,” Olivier said.
