PWD Yet to Secure NOC for Munak Canal Elevated Road Corridor.

The Public Works Department’s (PWD) proposed 16-kilometre elevated road project over the Munak Canal Elevated Road Corridor has not yet progressed, as the Haryana government is yet to issue a no-objection certificate (NOC), an official source said on Thursday.

The issue was discussed in a meeting between officials from both governments, with the PWD confirming that technical details are still being finalized. “We are pursuing the matter with Haryana government officials. Further technical details are being worked out,” the source added.

The elevated corridor, announced last year, is intended to ease traffic congestion in Outer Delhi areas. The proposed alignment crosses sections of the Munak Canal, which is maintained by Haryana authorities.

A PWD official said a detailed project report has already been shared with the Haryana government. However, the neighbouring state has expressed concerns about potential impacts on canal operations, including desilting activities that require heavy machinery.

The project remains on hold until these concerns are resolved and the NOC is granted, delaying the planned improvement in traffic flow for the region.
