Odisha CM Majhi Announces Rs 2.5 Trillion in Sanctioned Investments at PBD

The 18th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas, held from January 8-10 in Odisha, concluded recently, with Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi reflecting on the event’s success. This was the first time Odisha hosted the prestigious event, which proved to be a significant platform for investment and tourism development.

CM Majhi expressed pride in the event’s success, stating, "We have benefitted from this opportunity. The program was successful, beginning with the young diaspora, and the presence of the Prime Minister and President further elevated its significance. The diaspora from various countries participated, and we also visited Puri and Konark as part of the program. Besides the formal sessions, the guests expressed interest in investing in Odisha, especially in business and tourism sectors."

Majhi further announced that investments worth Rs 2.5 trillion have been sanctioned, with an additional Rs 5 trillion expected in the future. He added, “We are organizing a Make in Odisha conclave, and these investors are already in touch with us about their plans.”

During the event, several awardees were recognized for their contributions. Sudha Rani Gupta expressed her gratitude, saying, "I am deeply honoured and overjoyed to receive this 18th Pravasi Bharatiya Award. I am grateful to the government of India for recognizing my contributions."

Sarita Boodhoo, who was also honored, remarked, "I am deeply honoured to receive this award from the President of India. I am thankful for the recognition of my efforts in building bridges between India and Mauritius."

Shullette Cox, President of Jamaica Promotions Corporation (JAMPRO), reflected on the importance of the event, stating, "It has been an honor to participate in this discussion. These conversations about the contributions of the Indian diaspora are essential, and events like this open up important dialogues that will help India meet its 2047 goals."

The Pravasi Bharatiya Divas marked a significant milestone for Odisha, boosting both its global recognition and investment prospects.
