Novonesis Plans ₹3,000-Crore Maharashtra Investment Over 2–3 Years.
Danish bio-solutions major Novonesis plans to deploy its proposed ₹2,500-3,000 crore investment in Maharashtra over the next 24-36 months, with its Patalganga manufacturing facility expected to be a key beneficiary as the company expands capacity to meet rising demand across biofuels, food and health solutions, and agricultural biologicals in India.
Novonesis, formed in 2024 through the merger of Danish biotech companies Novozymes and Chr. Hansen, expects the remaining approvals and sign-offs for the Maharashtra project to be completed by the end of this year. The company will announce details of the investment once the approvals are in place.
“The ₹2,500-3,000 crore that we talked about in India is over a period of two-three years,” Krishna Mohan Puvvada, Regional President, Middle East, India and Africa, Novonesis, said.
The company had signed a memorandum of understanding with the Maharashtra government earlier this year as part of its plans to expand its presence and manufacturing capabilities in the state.
The investment is expected to support capacity expansion at Patalganga and strengthen Novonesis’ ability to cater to the growing Indian market for biological solutions across multiple sectors.
