Mahindra Kinetic starts operation at Pithampur facility

Pune: Mahindra Kinetic Scooters and Motorcycles, a JV between utility vehicles maker Mahindra and Mahindra (M&M) and two-wheeler manufacturer Kinetic Motor Company (KMCL) has begun operations with the manufacture of scooters from its facility at Pithampur.

Ms Sulajja Firodia Motwani, one of the members of the board of the new entity, said that the company had begun manufacture of KMCL’s former products Flyte, Nova, Blaze and Kinetic 4S scooters since the third week of January. “Around 5,000 units have been produced so far,” she said, adding that no motorcycles were being made as of now, and the scooters were currently being branded as Kinetic vehicles.

In July 2008, M&M had announced it would acquire the assets of KMCL for Rs 110 crore and form a new company for the manufacture of 2-wheelers.
