KSIIDC to improve infra development in various sectors

Mangalore: The Karnataka State Industrial Investment and Development Corporation (KSIIDC) wants to become a major infrastructure arm of the Karnataka Government, and a vision document is being prepared for the purpose, said Mr N. Yogish Bhat, Chairman of KSIIDC.

Speaking at the ‘Kanara Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) Export and Business Award’ ceremony, he said that KSIIDC has plans to improve infrastructure in power, tourism and road sectors.

Considering the requirement for electricity in the state, KSIIDC is planning to tap LNG (liquefied natural gas) sources for power generation in the state. However, he did not elaborate this.

On tourism infrastructure development, he said five tourism circuits are being developed in the state. These circuits would require hotels of both star and budget categories along with better connectivity.

Survey has been completed for the development of these circuits and KSIIDC has plans to link investors for these tourism infrastructure development projects.

Around 1.5 lakh km of roads at village, taluk and district levels need improvement in the state. Investment can also be attracted in this area of infrastructure development in the state, Mr Bhat said.
