IL&FS Transportation arm bags roads contract worth Rs. 1,348 cr in Africa.

Infrastructure player IL&FS Transportation through its subsidiary in Spain, Elsamex SA, has bagged Rs. 1,348.52 crore ($216.7 million) worth road contracts in Botswana, which are financed by the World Bank.

Elsamex has secured a road contract from the roads department of Ministry of Transport and Communications, Botswana, under the output category; and a performance-based road contracts system (OPRC) for a period of 10 years effective from February 19, 2014.

The total length of the roads to be maintained for both the contracts is 267.4 km, the company stated in a release.
