Gwalior to Emerge as Major Telecom Manufacturing Hub with ₹5,500 Crore Investment

Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh, is set to emerge as a major telecom equipment manufacturing hub with 24 companies proposing investments of around ₹5,500 crore in the upcoming Telecom Manufacturing Zone (TMZ). The project is being developed as India’s first integrated telecom manufacturing zone and is expected to support domestic production of telecom equipment, electronic components and related technologies.

The first phase of the project will be developed over approximately 170 acres at Shrimant Madhavrao Scindia Counter Magnet City in Gwalior. The Department of Telecommunications and the Government of Madhya Pradesh signed an MoU for the project in July 2026, with the Central Government providing about ₹493 crore for Phase-I infrastructure development.

Investor roadshows in Delhi and Mumbai generated investment commitments of about ₹3,500 crore and ₹2,000 crore respectively, taking the initial pipeline to ₹5,500 crore. The proposed units are expected to create more than 18,000 direct and indirect employment opportunities.

A subsequent Bengaluru investor roundtable also attracted around ₹700 crore of additional commitments, indicating continuing interest in the manufacturing cluster.

The project is expected to generate significant opportunities for telecom equipment makers, component manufacturers, semiconductor suppliers, electronics companies, infrastructure contractors, utilities and logistics service providers.
