Delhi Metro Phase IV: The new phase of the Delhi Metro network will be on fast-track once the Lok Sabha polls 2019 are over. According to a Dainik Jagran report, the construction work on the three approved corridors, out of the total six corridors of phase-IV will begin, and the remaining three corridors are likely to get approved by the Union Cabinet after the upcoming election season gets over. The Delhi Metro Phase-IV project is expected to complete by the year 2025. According to Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC), the pace of work for Phase IV will be pick up after elections.
The construction of six new metro corridors in Phase IV was proposed, with a total length of 103.93 km. According to the recent cabinet decision, the three approved corridors, covering a total distance of around 61.67 km will open as many as 46 new stations under Phase IV. Out of these 46 stations, 17 stations will be in the underground section and 29 stations will be elevated. The three approved corridors of Phase IV are as follows:
According to DMRC officials quoted in the report, no work on the metro project can be started as of now because of the implementation of Code of Conduct. After the elections, the tender process will begin. The work on the approved corridors is expected to start by the month of November-December this year.
According to the report, after the completion of the Delhi Metro Phase 3 project, the metro network and connectivity in Delhi-NCR has spread across a distance of around 376 km. Delhi Metro is now being counted among the world’s eight major metro networks. Presently, there are metro stations available in most of the urban areas at a maximum distance of three kilometers in Delhi. The Phase IV metro project will make the distance even smaller and will strengthen the connectivity across the national capital.
