Decks cleared for Cyber Township.

The State government has launched an exercise to engage a consultant for preparation of a master plan to develop an integrated Cyber Township at Kapuluppada on the city outskirts after cancelling the land allotment to New Delhi-based Unitech Limited for establishing knowledge city.

The allotment of land to the realty firm was cancelled for not grounding work in the allotted time and non-payment of amount it had agreed to pay as part of its commitment at the time awarding Letter of Allotment.

AP Industrial Infrastructure Corporation has already issued Request for Proposal (RFP) from reputed firms and the bids received were now under evaluation, an official of APIIC told The Hindu .

The Cyber Township is proposed in an area of 1351.90 acres after several IT entrepreneurs who invested in various units at Special Economic Zones, Madhurawada, Duvvada and Gambheeram complained to the government on the absence of required social infrastructure and the ecosystem to give a push to investments in the IT sector.

The consultant has to study and submit reports in various phases on how to promote IT and ITES industry in the proposed area along with support facilities in the surrounding area.
