Coastal road project gets final environmental nod.

Mumbai's coastal road project has received the final environmental approval from the Centre, announced Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis recently. “Good news! Mumbai #CoastalRoad gets final environmental approval from the Central Govt. Thank you Hon @narendramodi ji and @anilmdave ji!' tweeted Mr. Fadnavis, adding “This coastal road will ease the congestion on the Western Expressway and give a faster and smoother ride to Mumbaikars.”

The proposed 35-km coastal road, to be constructed by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), has been divided into two parts: northern and southern stretch. The latter will connect the Princess Street Flyover to the World end of the Bandra-Worli sea link. It is likely to cost ₹20,000 crore.

In his last visit to Delhi, Mr. Fadnavis had held a meeting with Minister of State for Environment (Independent Charge) Anil Dave requesting to speed up the process of granting clearance. “The UPA Govt at Centre & Cong NCP Govt in State were just talking about it for 15years but in 2years we got all approvals to build the road!” tweeted Mr. Fadnavis.
